Founded in 2017, Miner Book Co. is a small bookbindery and papermaking studio run by me, Sarah Miner. I have a passion for all things books and paper, and an unmatched curiosity about the production process.

I didn’t always love making books. First, I loved reading them. Then I loved writing them. Now, I’m intensely curious about how books get made—from design, to printing, to materials, and everything in between. Book production is where my focus has landed, after a lifetime of influence and choices and experimentations with different arts and crafts.

I’m an untraditional artist, but I consider myself an artist nonetheless.

Books are art. Making books takes time, thought, planning, education, practice, and patience—not unlike other art mediums. I’ve always loved that books can be both art and function. This is why I strive to make books that people can both use and read. Ready-made journals are available, and through my custom work I help create books that tell interesting and special stories.

Paper is similar. When I discovered papermaking in the summer of 2020, I was hooked. It’s an incredibly slow process with a steep learning curve, but it’s so rewarding when small batches turn out as I hope. Papermaking is a big step toward making my tiny operation as eco-friendly as possible, as all of my paper is recycled from office paper, old books, or offcuts from my bookbinding projects. I’m delighted to share my paper with you through the journals I make.

When I’m not making books or paper (which, let’s be real, there isn’t much else I do!), I’m usually petting my cat, going on walks or hikes, hanging out with family, or reading a good book.
